Recycled Palm-leaf Baskets and Hardeners

Palmito (palm leaf), natural binder, cotton, collagen, calcium carbonate, ecological pigment, and eco-friendly varnish. The sculpture revisits two traditional Balearic craft techniques. It incorporates recovered broken llatra baskets—originally produced using the traditional palm weaving method—and reinterprets blanquejat, an Ibizan hardening process originally used to reinforce these fibers, here adapted to support their reuse. Part of “Porus” an exhibition commissioned by Aina Pomar at Studio Weil. 2024. Photography: Juan David Cortes.
