Palmito (palm leaf), natural binder, cotton, collagen, calcium carbonate, ecological pigment, and eco-friendly varnish. The sculpture revisits two traditional Balearic craft techniques. It incorporates recovered broken llatra baskets—originally produced using the traditional palm weaving method—and reinterprets blanquejat, an Ibizan hardening process originally used to reinforce these fibers, here adapted to support their reuse. 2024. Recycled textiles sourced from discarded clothing and domestic household fabrics, starch-based stiffener, galvanized steel, and electrical components. The textiles are repurposed through the application of a natural stiffening agent, enabling structural manipulation and volume retention. Galvanized steel functions as a skeletal framework, holding the electrical components in place. The process is entirely manual and intentionally slow, standing in direct opposition to the rapid, extractive, and disposable logic of the fast fashion industry. 2024. Unique edition. Compressed recycled PUR foam sourced from industrial discards and minimal protective coatings. The material is reclaimed from post-production scraps sourced directly from a Swiss recycling facility, preserving the foam’s inherent textures and chromatic variations. Instead of conventional compression into filler, the process involves chopping and reassembling fragments into modular blocks—their irregular surfaces and porous structures left exposed to highlight the material’s history. A subtle coating is applied for durability without compromising tactile authenticity . The blocks interlock into adaptive configurations, from singular stools to expansive seating landscapes. Crucially, the system is designed for cyclical reuse: at end-of-life, the foam can be shredded and recast indefinitely, subverting the linear waste paradigm of traditional polyurethane applications. 2017. Handmade composite composed of construction site waste—including rock wool insulation scraps, plasterboard fragments, aluminum profile offcuts, PVC remnants, and cement—combined with pigment, varnish, and resin. The material was developed in situ during the final weeks of the Casa Vasto renovation, using as its primary base the debris generated by the construction itself. The piece, a two-part table, is the result of a site-specific material experiment, in which the components and techniques employed reflect the immediate context of the building process. The outcome embodies a direct reuse of construction waste through manual composition and surface finishing. 2022. Commission ( VASTO , Mesura). Photography: Mesura.

Deformed handmade composite based on recycled wood fiber insulation sourced from local construction sites in Mallorca, combined with lime, aggregate, cork particles, steel, and pigment. The material features layered coloration and is protected with an eco-friendly varnish. This series explores various techniques and finishes, focusing on the reuse of construction waste—primarily insulation materials. The techniques and materials combined are specific to each individual work, reflecting a tailored approach to material integration. October, 2023. Commission ( VASTO , Mesura). Part of the solo show MMLM (Mezcla Moldea Lija Mueve) at Vasto galery. Photography: Mesura, Cecilia Betz.
